Tree Protection "Plus"

Wider, thicker, better – the Tree Protection "Plus" by Sigma Slacklines.

Compared to standard tree protection it is thicker and 5 cm wider – a full 15 cm high. That gives round slings enough room to be attached securely.

The black felt is 4 mm thick and visible from a distance – a clear sign of environmental care. Easy to close again and again with its Velcro straps.

Why tree protection is a must

When you tension a slackline, 500 to 800 kg act directly on the bark. Without protection the round sling rubs the bark open and crushes the cambium underneath, the layer the tree needs to grow. The damage is permanent, and in many cities visible bark damage in a park counts as criminal damage.

That is exactly why cities like Cologne, Munich and Berlin have banned slacklining in some parks. Using tree protection keeps our sport allowed. We have included it with every set since 2005.

The ISA minimum requirements

The International Slackline Association tested 43 tree protection products from 23 manufacturers. Four criteria decide: length from 200 cm, height from 20 cm, thickness from 4 mm and a way to attach round slings. Our Tree Protection Plus was among the best 12 of the 43 products tested. At 15 cm our height is below the recommendation, and we are working on it.

Using it correctly

Wrap the tree protection all the way around the trunk, not just on the pulling side. That spreads the pressure evenly. Only use healthy trees from 30 cm diameter, never young trees, and change spots regularly.
