35 mm Slackline – Why the Sigma Is the Best All-Rounder for Beginners and Pros

Note: The 35 mm Sigma set is currently not available. As its successor we recommend the Sigma Impact Set.

The 35 mm Sigma Slackline – the Eternal All-Rounder

When we started slackliner.de in 2006, the first slackline we sold was a 35 mm slackline. And guess what? To this day, the Sigma is our most proven all-rounder.

The story of the Sigma

From the very beginning, the Sigma set with its strong long-handle ratchet was designed for three things: simplicity, functionality and durability.

We have customers who have been slacklining on their Sigma for more than 8 years. That says it all.

At the time when 50 mm jumplines were all the rage, the 35 mm Sigma was always the alternative – the all-rounder for everyone who doesn't want to jump but doesn't want to switch to the 25 mm experience either. The ideal beginner slackline. The perfect intermediate step.

The set has proven itself tens of thousands of times – high-quality components, flexible webbing and a strong ratchet with built-in spacers. Made in Germany, modular, with replaceable individual components.

Why 35 mm – and not 25 mm or 50 mm?

Compared with 50 mm tricklines:

  • The webbing does not tip over sideways – not even on longer lines
  • Easier to control, more beginner-friendly
  • Still: jumping works brilliantly

Compared with 25 mm longline webbing:

  • Much easier to control
  • Can be tensioned up to 45 m with the Sigma ratchet – that is already real longline territory
  • Ideal for everyone who is not yet ready for 25 mm

The webbing doesn't tip, the bounce is right, the lengths fit. The ideal compromise.

The 2018 update

In 2018 we completely relaunched the Sigma – the same on the outside, completely new on the inside:

More stretch – the webbing has become suppler and springier

More colour – now dyed through deep into the fibre. The webbing can no longer bleed – not even under adverse conditions when waterlining

More grip – much softer to the touch, comfortable under bare feet

Less length in the set – the webbing is no longer supplied in 35 m lengths with a ratchet, as this length can no longer be tensioned satisfactorily by beginners. For that, we recommend the Ellington webbing pulley.

Sigma and Impact – siblings

The Sigma Impact webbing is the further development of the Sigma – softer, thicker, more stretch, more grip. If you love the Sigma, you will love the Impact.

The clever way into 25 mm

The best thing about the Sigma: if you want to switch to 25 mm at some point – no problem. Simply fit spacers into the ratchet and tension the 25 mm webbing. The set stays, only the webbing changes.
